Sasquatch schedule announced

Thursday, May 8, 2008

Today the Sasquatch Music Festival schedule was announced. How rough is it on me? Will I miss any of my favorites? Will there be any painful "I can't believe I missed them!" moments?

Perhaps.

From taking a quick look at it without having everything laid out Sunday and Monday look like they are going to be very, very rough on me. Especially mid-day Sunday and late on Monday. I learned long ago however that instead of catching full sets, I should just catch partial sets of everyone that I want to see and whole sets of those that I would die without. So currently, here is the breakdown of who I will be seeing after a quick glance over.

Saturday: Fleet Foxes, Beirut, the Whigs, Ozomatli, the National, a snippet of Destroyer, the New Pornographers, M.I.A., Okkervil River (if there is time, oh god let there be time!), Modest Mouse, R.E.M.

Sunday: "Awesome". 65daysofstatic, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Blue Scholars, most of Cold War Kids, White Rabbits, part of Tegan and Sara, all of Rogue Wave, part of the Presidents, Mates of State, part of Michael Franti, the Kooks, Death Cab for Cutie, part of Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, the Cure.

Monday: A fraction of the Choir Practice, Yeasayer, Matt Costa, Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down, the Hives, Built to Spill, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, Flight of the Conchords, 15 minutes of Jamie Lidell, most of the Mars Volta, 20 minutes of Ghostland Observatory, and closing with the Flaming Lips.

Biggest problem happen on Sunday when Cold War Kids, White Rabbits, Tegan and Sara, and Rogue Wave are all playing within an hour and 35 minutes of each other (WHY?!!!), and then on Monday at the end of the day when I have Jamie Lidell starting 15 minutes before the Mars Volta (sure to start off strong), Ghostland Observatory starting in the midst of the Mars Volta's set, and then the Flaming Lips starting just 20 minutes afterwards.

I'm still not sure how those sections are going to work out. I feel as if there will be lots of running involved, I'll miss many beginnings and ends, but it'll all work out how it should. Can't wait for it, in a little less than 2 weeks I head down and the first day is just 16 days out! Woo!

I must see all of Yeasayer, MIA, Mars Volta, Flaming Lips, and Modest Mouse. Everything else is flexible for me.

You're watching Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground with me, and you're going to like it!

I say there is no flexibility now, but I have a feeling I'll end up skipping at least one band and watching comedy. I hate that Michael Ian Black is at the same time as the Mars Volta! Dammit!
