A Slice of Fried Gold

What ever happened to me?

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

When I was in high school, I'd create reasons to miss class. I was nearly always "sick," and due to that I missed a ton of time. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it was legitimate and I was actually sick, but quite often I wasn't and I just would rather be home watching TV or reading comics or doing something similarly great.

Today, I woke up and felt HORRIBLE. I could hardly function, so at 7 am I called a couple coworkers and announced that I would try and rest up and make it in later. They said "sure, sure, feel better" assuming that I would in no way be in later. So I slept until 9 am, still felt like crap, chugged water, grabbed lozenges, went to the doctor to find out if I had strep (I didn't) and then went to work.

I thought one of our VP's was going to fall over because I actually showed up. She thanked me for my dedication, and I went in and did my job.

What the hell happened to me?! I am now apparently the exact opposite person I was in high school. When I am sick, I make excuses to do what I am supposed to (guilty, people are already out, they need me). So bizarre.

Of course it is no 7:43 pm, and I've only eaten a little leftover chinese today (plus roughly 423,563 lozenges) but I'm still chugging along. Feel like crap, but you better believe I'll be at work tomorrow. Very, very strange indeed.

Well there is a ton of money being gambled on NFL games, so it makes some sense that he does something if the NFL can't do it right. Just an observation, not saying I agree with it.

Dude, you totally commented on the wrong post! However, I know what you're saying, I just get the feeling this is more about him being a bitter Eagles fan (because let's face it, all Eagles fans are bitter) who is upset that we beat them in the Super Bowl.
